Apple have sent out invitations to their latest special event - widely predicted to be the launch of the iPad mini .
The California tech giant has invited people to the California Theatre in San Jose on October 23.
The invitation features the top of the Apple logo in white on an acid rainbow of colours - and the promise "We've got a little more to show you".
The launch event, which is expected to introduce a smaller version of the market-leading tablet as well as a slimmer iMac and a Mac Mini, will start at 10am California time - 6pm UK time.
Next Tuesday's launch enables the California tech giant to throw a shadow over the launch of Microsoft's Surface tablet which goes on sale three days later. (See our take on the iPad Mini alternatives here )
There has been a swirl of rumours and apparently leaked images of the new mini iPad for weeks.
The latest suspected leaks to appear online are of early versions of the battery, which still contain placeholder text in some areas.
The specifications on the label suggest 3.72 volts offering 16.7 watt-hours of energy on 4490 mAh of charge, MacRumors reports . The iPhone 5 provides 5.45 watt-hours and the iPad 3 has 42.5 watt-hours.
