A sniff of a cure: New weapon in fight against hay fever and asthma... botox

Wrinkle-erasing Botox could be the latest weapon against debilitating hay fever and asthma.
Researchers are conducting a trial of a Botox nasal gel that provides relief to hay fever sufferers for up to three months.
The gel works by blocking the nerve endings in the nasal passage, reducing inflammation and halting the onset of symptoms.
It is easily applied with a cotton bud and penetrates the nasal tissue.
“We hope this world-first trial will be the first step towards relief for millions of sufferers worldwide,” said Philip Bardin, a professor at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
Trials of the treatment for runny noses and itchy eyes, have been so successful it could go on sale in a year.
Prof Bardin also revealed details of work to inject Botox into the vocal cords of severe asthma patients to help overcome muscle spasms.
He said 82% of patients showed reduced symptoms.
